Contact cements and solvents have been tried and true bonding solutions for many, many years. Contrary to instant adhesives, like super glue, they require 24 hour cure times and often need clamping. Contact cements work best on applications where flexibility is needed over strength. The Original Super Glue® specialty sealants can be used on canvas, rubber, shoe soles, and leather. Additionally special formulations are available for use on steel, and vinyl/leather applications. Carpenter's wood glue dries clear and is a great product for all types of wood. Model/Hobby Cement can be used for polystyrene.

Super Glue Corporation's high quality, clear, silicone sealers are available in two waterproof formulas: original, and a new mold and mildew resistant formula for Kitchens and Baths. These silicone sealers are dishwasher safe and can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications.

... I am a luthier of musical instruments. I have found that Super Glue Household cement is the best glue for installing plastic and ivoroid binding on musical instrument parts. I have tried lots of other types of contact cement and none works like the household cement. With the household cement I can put a little dab on the binding and get it started gluing in place and hold it for a VERY short time and it's stuck. This way I can keep working and don't have to put tape on it to hold it while it dries. It's good stuff.

In these instances, I often use regular Super Glue to create a quick bond between parts, and then use the Model and Hobby Cement to fill any gaps between parts and make the bond more flexible and resistant to breakage. Super Glue Model and Hobby Cement is also wonderful for gluing a variety of materials together, such as gluing plastic model scenery to hardboard bases. It is an indispensable product! Simply put, Super Glue products make it possible to assemble even the most difficult materials and complicated models. I have used Super Glue to assemble literally hundreds of models over the years as well as to perform numerous household repairs. Super Glue products are invaluable tools for the modeling hobbyist as well as just for keeping things fixed around the house.
