Keeping it Together: Bondini and Workshops

October 28th, 2016

While there’s certainly a stereotype that a workshop is usually for woodworking, there are as many different types of workshops as there are different types of hobbyists and do-it-yourselfers. There is, however, one constant: Bondini adhesives. These adhesives are great for every type of workshop.

Why Choose Bondini?

Bondini adhesives are unique in that they do not require a clean surface for application. That’s right! Unlike other glues and epoxies, Bondini adhesives work on even the most uneven, rusty, oily, greasy, grimy, and dirty surfaces. They also work on both porous and nonporous surfaces, including nylon, glass, wood, ceramics, brick, leather, and more. Bondini adhesives are available in dropper, squeeze tube, and brush-on application options so you can apply as much or as little as needed with ease. The Bondini adhesives line from Super Glue includes five different products to meet all of your workshop needs: Bondini 2, Bondini Everything Gel, Bondini Xtreme-3, Bondini 2 Brush-On, and Bondini Brush-On Remover Gel.

Uses for Bondini in the Workshop

Because it’s so versatile, Bondini has nearly unlimited uses for crafts, home improvement projects, and hobbies.

Bondini adhesives from Super Glue Corporation are ideal for automotive and motorcycle work because they can be used on greasy and grimy lines, connections, and other car parts. Bondini adhesives are great for carpentry projects, too, because they can be used to adhere wood, clean or dirty, to almost any surface you could want to. Similarly, Bondini adhesives are perfect for outdoor projects where it can be difficult to clean the surfaces you want to adhere something to.

Bondini adhesives can also be used for crafting activities. These adhesives are great for modeling hobbies such as doll house and miniature furniture construction and decoration, as well as creating model trains, cars, planes, and other vehicles. Art projects like mosaics, sculptures, and jewelry-making can also be made easier with the versatility of Bondini adhesives.

Workshop Safety

Remember that all strong adhesives require a few safety steps to protect you and your workshop. Before starting any project, make sure to cover any surfaces that you want protected and plastic gloves to protect your skin. You may also want to consider a mask and protective eyewear to protect yourself from the adhesive’s fumes, especially if you have sensitive eyes or a sensitive respiratory system. Make sure you read the instructions on your adhesive before you start your project to avoid damage to your materials.

While working on your project, work in a well ventilated area. Fans and open doors and windows can help create ventilation if your workshop is not already well ventilated. Keep your Bondini adhesive away from children and animals, and keep the cap on your adhesive product while it’s not in use. Hold the container firmly, but without squeezing, and facing away from you to avoid spillage and make sure any spillage isn’t on you.

Cleaning Up

If you need to clean or remove Bondini from a surface, don’t just attempt to tear or pry it off as you can damage the surface you’re trying to pull it off of, whether it’s your skin or something else. Use warm soapy water to work the glue off. You can gently pry at this point to hurry the process, but stop if you meet resistance. Acetone can also remove Bondini and other adhesives, but can damage surfaces and irritate the skin. If you’re trying to remove the adhesive from around your eyes and mouth, just use warm water. If you have difficulty removing adhesive after following these steps, contact a medical professional.

Why Choose the Zap Family of Products?

Super Glue’s line of Zap products offer a wide variety of options for everyone. Zap adhesives are versatile, durable, and shock resistant. These adhesives are specifically formulated to be used on both porous and nonporous products including woods, such as balsa wood, metal, plastic, and fiberglass.

In addition to adhesives, the Zap Family of products include a variety of products to maintain and protect other hobby components, including engine parts, canopies, electrical connections, and others.

Uses for Zap Products

Between Zap’s adhesives and other products, this line can be used for almost any hobby.

The Zap line offers adhesives perfect for laminating wood parts, filling gaps, detailed repairs, strengthening fiberglass, and sealing parts. These products come in a range of consistencies for whatever strength of adhesion is needed and for minimizing the appearance of repaired cracks. Zap also offers adhesives that are safe for products that can be damaged by other adhesives, such as foam and plastics.

In addition to adhesives and epoxies, Zap offers a variety of other hobby-related products. These include de-bonders for adhesive and epoxy removal, track cleaners and corrosion inhibitors, engine cleaners, and thread lockers. These products are perfect for cleaning and securing a variety of surfaces and hobby components.

Cleaning Up Zap Products

If you need to remove a Zap product from a surface, don’t attempt to force it off and pull adhered objects apart. This can damage the surfaces. Sometimes a razor blade can be used to sever bonds and separate items, but, if not, soak the area in warm soapy water to soften the glue. The adhesive should weaken within a few hours. Acetone can also be used to remove adhesives, but can damage surfaces and irritate skin, so hobbyists should use acetone for this purpose with caution. If trying to remove Zap products from around the mouth and eyes, do not use soap, just warm water. If adhesive or epoxy doesn’t remove from the body within a few hours, contact a medical professional.

Weekend Project Repairs | Fix-All Adhesive

Small Shed On Backyard

Small Shed On Backyard

This past weekend, I decided to take a good hard look at my backyard. I had recently opened my pool, and my garden was in full swing, but some of the other aspects of my yard were decrepit and disheveled. This weekend it would all change, I thought. My weekend project: repairs!

I bought some Fix-All Adhesive and got to work on fixing my plastic posts and pool ladder, my shed lock, my vinyl siding, and my mounted hose reel. By the end of the weekend, my back yard would be ready for a 4th of July barbeque with the neighbors, family and friends.

Weekend Project Repairs | The Plastic Posts and Pool Ladder

Fix-All Adhesive works on a variety of materials, so when I decided to fix up my backyard I started using it to fix my plastic deck posts. It filled all the cracks and holes in my plastic posts as well as sealed them back together on top where some of the posts were beginning to fall off.

When you start to use your Fix-All Adhesive, press the plastic cap into the tube to break the seal and make sure to apply the Fix-All to both surfaces you are gluing to ensure that it is sealed in the correct place.

Additionally, Fix-All is water resistant, so I used it to fix parts of my pool ladder that were cracked at the top. I can rest easy knowing full well that while parts of the ladder will be sprayed by water, Fix-All Adhesive will stay in place.

Weekend Project Repairs | Shed Lock | Metal on Wood

Next on my weekend project repairs list: my shed lock, which has been broken for some time. Fix-All Adhesive works on brick, canvas, ceramic, china, concrete, fabric, glass, leather, metal, plastics, both porous and non-porous materials, rubber, vinyl and wood. My lock is metal and I was affixing it to my wooden shed doors, so Fix-All Adhesive had me covered.
I applied a small amount to both the back of the metal lock and the part of the shed door where I wanted the lock to be affixed and set it to dry. My lock was back in action thanks to Fix-All Adhesive.

Weekend Project Repairs | Vinyl Siding

Fix-All Adhesive is a multipurpose and versatile adhesive, so I used it to seal some of the cracks between the vinyl siding on my house. Again, because Fix-All is water resistant, you don’t have to worry about a little rain causing the sealant to deteriorate. By applying a small amount of Fix-All Adhesive to each part of the panel that I wanted to adhere together, I was able to repair the vinyl siding of my home.

Weekend Project Repairs | Metal Hose Reel

This adhesive works on so many different materials, including metal. I used Fix-All to repair my metal hose reel. A piece that wound the hose around had broken off, so I applied Fix-All to both the piece that had broken off and the ends of the hose reel where I wanted to seal it.

Because Fix-All also works on brick, it could also be used to give extra security and a tighter seal to the hose reel fixture on the back of my home.

Weekend Project Repairs | Fix-All Adhesive

At the end of the weekend, my backyard looked fresh and ready for company.

Whether it’s fixing up your backyard, repairing an old swing set, or building a creative project, Fix-All is full of surprises.

Money-Saving Repairs | Bondini Everything Gel to the Rescue

Cobbler’s Glue – Relatively Expensive Repair

Cobbler’s Glue – Relatively Expensive Repair

Let’s face it – very few things last forever. Things break. It’s as simple as that. That’s where a good money-saving adhesive comes into play. I’ve faced countless, potentially expensive fixes in my lifetime.

There was a time when the acoustic bridge of my guitar came loose, or the time the sole of my shoe rubbed free. How about the time I tripped on my front steps and chipped the masonry clean off? Whoops!

Money-saving repairs are possible with Bondini Everything Gel. This is one adhesive that can fix all of these problems and more, reliably – and for years, if not a lifetime. Moreover, it works on wood, rubber, some plastic, metal, stone, and tile. It’s a sure-fire money saver.

Money-saving repairs | Adhesive for Wood and Plastic

As mentioned previously, I used Bondini Everything Gel to bond the acoustic bridge of my guitar back into place, which is made of plastic, while my guitar is made of wood.

Bondini Everything Gel worked like a charm as this repair was done many years ago and my guitar is still intact. This could have cost me over $100 if I didn’t have the right adhesive on hand.

Do be careful when using this product, however. If you happen to get the adhesive on any unwanted surface, it will stick and possibly mar the surface.

Money-saving Repairs | Mend Rubber

How many times have you bought a new pair of shoes because you wore through the bottom of your old pair? Another money-saving repair made possible with a little Bondini Everything Gel.

No more spending $20-$200 dollars on new shoes when you can fix your favorite pair. Mend the rubber soles and leave them to sit overnight in a sturdy position.

This should correct and harden any holes in your shoes that were causing discomfort or leakage. With Bondini Everything Gel, you will get much more use out of those shoes before you need to get a new pair.

Try the Money-Saving Product on Your Home Repairs

Bondini Everything Gel works on a variety of substances including wood, plastic, mental, stone, tile and rubber. It can be a huge money-saver if you introduce it into your routine repairs.

Securing Outdoor Items with Adhesive Epoxies

Contemporary outdoor patio with fireplace

With increased exposure to the elements, all manner of outdoor furniture and items can be more susceptible to the occasional blemish or breakage. When this does happen, you may just be able to fix your broken chair or splintered pipe with nothing more than a quality adhesive epoxy.

The benefits of adhesive epoxies aren’t just restricted to repairs, however. They’re a versatile and effective solution for various adhesive-based needs, with the majority of them being weather-resistant and ideal for outdoor applications.

The Various Applications of Adhesive Epoxies

There are a wide range of adhesive epoxy solutions available from the Super Glue Corporation, most of which will help with the securing or repairing of outdoor items. Which one you opt for depends on your needs. You may need a quick setting epoxy for emergency repairs, a waterproof one that would be ideal for pipes and guttering, or a metal epoxy for metal appliance and tool repairs.

Below is a list of just some the ways you can utilize adhesive epoxies:

  • On outdoor furniture: Repair broken legs on an outdoor chair or table.
  • Pipes and guttering: Seal and solidify cracks present on downpipes, fix damage on gutter guards, etc.
  • Tools: Reattach the head of hammers/shovels to the handle, secure the carriage of a wheelbarrow to its framing, set screws in place in the event they tend to come loose frequently, etc.
  • Lights: If you can’t screw a lamp’s framing/support to the exterior wall of your home, use an epoxy to secure it instead.
  • Signage: Easily secure signage, such as your address number, to your mailbox, fence, and more.

What about indoors

Adhesive epoxy is by no means restricted to outdoor applications. Many epoxies, such as the quick setting epoxies, are perfect for indoor repairs. You could secure a loosened section of your bookshelf, add additional strength to your TV’s wall mounts, fixing a broken clip on a landline phone, and more.

Declutter Your Home with Adhesive Organizers

July 4th, 2016

Klip Organizer2

Over time, everyone accumulates a notable number of household items. While there are certain rare-use items that can be stored away in a box or container, there are others that can take up a significant chunk of space but are still used frequently enough that storing them away is less than ideal. One simple way of saving space and decluttering your home is to use Super Glue’s range of Adhesive Household Klips and Utility Organizers.

Household Clutter in the US

According to the LA Times, the average US household manages to accumulate 300,000 items. This accounts for anything as small as thumb tacks to the likes of king-sized beds. More often than not, it’s the smaller-to-medium sized items that tend to get out of control. For example, do you have enough room for all your spice jars, coffee cups, or winter jackets? What about gardening tools, brooms, or paint brushes?

While you can get rid of some items through a good old spring clean, there are others that you may need to hold on to. Enter the simplicity and efficiency of Adhesive Household Klips.

Decluttering Your Home

There are several steps you can take to declutter your home, including the use of our Household Klips and Utility Organizers. They can be adhered to walls and allow you to hold a range of items; including toothbrushes, paint brushes, brooms/sweepers, electrical cords, clothes hangers, screwdrivers, and more. Our adhesive organizers are built to last and can adhere to most flat surfaces, allowing you to increase the space in your home by having more items secured vertically.

Decluttering does involve more than just changing how you store your current items. We often hold onto items we no longer need due to a form of sentimental attachment with them. Perhaps a certain item stirs up good memories or was a gift from someone we love. However, it’s also important to be objective and question if said item offers any practical value. Because no matter how much an old hand bag or backpack may mean to us, if it’s essentially falling apart and can no longer perform the function it was designed for, then it’s time to retire it.

Other interesting facts worth keeping in mind include:

  • We wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time – in other words, most of us have a lot of clothes we don’t even use and could be rid of
  • You can cut housework by 40% by eliminating clutter – the less clutter you have, the less time you’ll spend cleaning your home
  • Research shows that the more clutter people have, the greater their stress levels are

The takeaway is that while the process of decluttering your home can take some time in itself, it ultimately saves you time and stress in the long run. Whether you achieve this through improved storage and organization solutions or by slowly getting rid of things you no longer need, a spacious and more organized home is a peaceful home.

Make Scrabble Tile Coasters with Super Glue

How to Make Scrabble Tile Drink Coasters

If you have ever used the Original Super Glue, you know it dries quickly and firmly once it has cured, making it a very popular adhesive for all sorts of crafts and DIY projects.

This ‘Scrabble’ tile drink coaster set is one of our favorite craft projects because it simply demonstrates how fast and easy it is to work with Super Glue.

Not only are these drink coasters fun to make, but they also make great gifts. As decorative accent pieces, this Scrabble tile coaster set will really add character to your game room or your coffee table.

Note: We’ve also seen this done with Dominoes, Dice, Mahjong Tiles, and old-fashioned checkers. Simply substitute the game piece used in any of these games with Scrabble tiles and you’ve put a new twist on an old classic. With a little patience and creativity, most gaming pieces can be found online for pennies and easily transformed with a little Super Glue.

Scrabble Tile Drink Coasters: Here’s What You Will Need

  • A 5.5” square piece of wood or tile to use as the base for your coaster
  • ⅛” to ½” thick Flat Cork sheeting (Note, you can also use wine corks the way we did in our January 2015 blog)
  • 36 Scrabble Tiles
  • The Original Super Glue
  • Ruler
  • Fine-Tip Permanent Marker
  • Some metal foil to cover your work surface

Making Your Scrabble Tile Coasters

  1. Take your metal foil, and use it to cover your work surface. This will keep any errant glue drips from sticking to your table.
  2. Next, carefully cut a piece of the cork backing the exact size and shape of your coaster base.
  3. Apply Super Glue to the coaster base.
  4. Firmly press the cork backing down onto the glue. Be sure to align the backing appropriately, as Super Glue dries quickly and firmly.
  5. Wait a few minutes for the glue to cure a bit, then turn your coaster over
  6. Now, we could end here and you’d have a perfectly functional coaster. And that’s fine if all you want to make is a plain coaster. Instead, we’re going to add some flair to these plain coasters by adding some gaming pieces. Scrabble tiles are probably the easiest, but you can use other gaming pieces as well. With a little imagination there’s no limit to the fun things you can create. For this, lay the Scrabble tiles out how you’d like them to be arranged on the coaster. If you like, find the right Scrabble tiles to spell out your name. Other ideas: spell out a few fun drinking words or simply go with a mish-mash of letters. It’s totally up to you.
  7. Place a small amount of Super Glue on the back of your first Scrabble tile, then place it in the top left corner of the front of your coaster. Continue until you’ve placed all the tiles (or dominoes, or dice) in the order you want.
  8. Let the coasters sit overnight to allow the adhesive to fully cure and by morning you can enjoy your new set of Scrabble tile drink coasters!

How to Make DIY Animal Fridge Magnets with Fix-All Adhesive

Fix-All Adhesive is a great all purpose glue that you can use on most at-home DIY projects. This Animal Fridge Magnet project is a great example of an inexpensive and super easy DIY home project that you can do alone or with kids.

These cute little critters can be used to mark chore charts, hold up grocery lists, or simply used to decorate a metal surface. No matter where you choose to place your animal magnets, you’re sure to have a blast making them.

Animal Fridge Magnets:
Here’s What You’ll Need

  • A few small, solid plastic animals. You can find these online or at most big-box stores. Note: If you find some hollow plastic animals that you’d like to use for this project, simply cut each animal in half and fill with air-dry clay. This will create a solid backing for your animal that you can then use to attach your magnet.
  • A box cutter or other sharp blade. As long as it has a straight edge, you should be good.
  • Magnets. You can use standard decorative ceramic magnets or you can spend a little extra on some smaller rare earth magnets.
  • Fix-All Adhesive
  • Optional: Spray paint. We like how these animals look once they’re coated with a little metallic gold or silver spray paint.
  • Optional: Plastic ‘Googly Eyes’. Make a fun project even more fun by adding a pair of ‘googly eyes’.
  • Finally, one brick of air-dry clay if you are using hollow plastic animals.

Making Your Magnets

  1. If you’re spray painting your plastic animals, now is the time to do so. Make sure they are completely dry before continuing. Note: Always work on a protected surface in a well-ventilated area when using spray paints or other aerosols.
  2. Once the animals have completely dried, carefully cut them in half using the smooth downward motions to avoid ragged edges.
  3. Clean up any rough edges with the knife.
  4. If you have hollow animal figurines, fill the insides with air-dry clay and set them out to harden up.
  5. Once you’ve done that, simply glue one of the magnets to each half of the animals and let dry.
  6. Optional: If you want to add a little touch of silliness, you can glue ‘googly eyes’ over the eyes on the figurine for an extra whimsical look.

Enjoy Your New Animal Fridge Magnets!

Be sure to place your fun animal magnets where they’ll be seen and adored! Of course, you can follow and apply the same steps using other objects that you think would make for an interesting magnet.

You can pick up a bag of extra Scrabble tiles and turn those into fridge magnets. They’re a fun way to pass the time while waiting for something on the stove to boil.

Whatever you decide to do with this ‘magnetic’ idea, the sky’s the limit!

If you’d like more ideas, be sure to check out the Original Super Glue Blog or just simply browse online for more great uses of our adhesive.
